US Investment, Financial Group Names New Asia-Pacific Distribution Leadership

BNY Mellon Investment Management, the US-headquartered firm with $1.6 trillion of client assets, has a new management team for its Asian business.

Lindsay Wright has been appointed head of distribution, Asia-Pacific. Based in Hong Kong, she will lead the firm's distribution efforts across financial institutions, governments, sovereign wealth funds and intermediaries in the region. The firm later told this publication that the leadership structure in the Asia-Pacific region is newly developed, with two co-heads of the business:  Wright works alongside Doni Shamsuddin, chief product and operating officer, reporting into Matt Oomen, international head of distribution (based in London).  In Singapore, Nicolas Kopitsis will head the intermediary distribution for Asia, ex-Japan, reporting Wright.

With more than 30 years’ experience in senior leadership and distribution roles, Wright previously worked with Invesco as regional head of institutional, alternatives and investment solutions. She was also co-CEO of Harvest Capital Management and CEO of Harvest Alternative Investments.

Prior to this Wright worked at Deutsche Bank in a number of positions globally.

As well as leading the firm's distribution efforts in Asia-Pacific, Wright will take on responsibility as co-head of APAC, alongside Shamsuddin, chief product and operating officer, who was appointed co-head of APAC in January. Shamsuddin brings 13 years of experience with BNY Mellon IM across London, Tokyo and Hong Kong.

In addition, Nicolas Kopitsis has been named head of intermediary distribution Asia ex-Japan. He is now based in Singapore. Formerly BNY Mellon IM country head for Switzerland, Kopitsis was appointed in February and will report directly to Wright. Kopitsis joined BNY Mellon IM from Lombard Odier Investment Managers. Prior to LOIM, he was at Goldman Sachs Asset Management.
